Thompson Athletics will move to digital cashless, contactless ticketing for 2020 and beyond

ALABASTER, AL July 8, 2020:

Event ticketing for the 2020 football season as well as general admission ticketing for all sports will look different in 2020 and moving forward. Thompson Athletics will move to an all-digital ticket platform set to include online ticketing and pre-game sales as well as game day general admission digital self-service.

“Fortunately we have been working towards an all-digital platform with a cashless approach for the past couple of years. Unfortunately, the current COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to build a sooner roll out of these feature than originally planned" says Athletic Director Vincent Pitts.

The Warriors will accept all forms of credit card and digital pay, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cash will not be accepted at the gate for general admission tickets. Pitts mentioned “Going cashless has many advantages, most notably it decreases the intensity of our money management processes that exist when cash is involved, and it is less risky and reduces any potential improprieties. Furthermore, it is our goal to create a safe and healthy environment for our fans, student athletes and our coaches. Ultimately we are working to reduce personal contact and limit the transfer of cash.”

For the Warriors, the digital plan and structure is also part of a larger overall plan in cooperation with the other 7A Region 3 schools. Each participating member school of 7A Region 3 will be working towards a cashless, digital ticketing plan.

Pitts further indicated that they are still working on plans for offering reserved seat football tickets for our priority reserved seating members as well as open enrollment for fans as they have offered in the past. In the past, the athletic department has multiple packages available that offer one or two reserved tickets and parking passes. Packages range in price from $175.00 - $375.00.

Pitts says “We are working on our reserved seating plans as we speak. We are hopeful that reserved seats will be achievable under COVID-19 guidelines. Unfortunately, guidelines can change daily. Regardless, we will work hard to accommodate our fans in every way possible. We have a great home schedule this season that includes the 2nd Annual Go Gold Bowl vs 6A State Champion Oxford, rival Hoover and other region opponents. We are optimistic that we will play sports in the Fall. We will certainly play under different guidelines and protocols but we are hopeful to return to play nonetheless."

We have maintained our convenient online ordering system and will continue to offer priority renewals in the coming years for those who purchase season tickets. Thompson will look forward to welcoming all fans on August 22nd for the 2nd Annual Go Gold Bowl.”
