2023 Thompson High School vs Clay Chalkville to be prime time feature on ESPN2

ALABASTER, AL July 13, 2023: For the fourth time in six years, Thompson High School is excited to announce the 2023 home contest vs Clay Charleville will be televised on ESPN2. As part of the ESPN High School Showcase, the Warriors will be featured as part of a season-long high school showcase on the ESPN family of networks.

The Thompson Warriors football program has been featured numerous times on the ESPN family of networks. In 2018 the Warriors hosted the Hewitt Trussville Huskies, in 2020 the Warriors were again featured at Hewitt Trussville, in 2022 the Warriors hosted Lipscomb Academy and this upcoming season the Warriors will host Clay Chalkville in a prime time telecast on ESPN2.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our program, our players and our coaching staff” said Pitts. We are thrilled that our school, community, city, players and coaches will again be featured on the biggest stage. Pitts stated “I can’t be certain, but I feel confident that we have just become the most televised program in the state of Alabama since 2018. I do not believe there is a program that has been featured more on national television than the Thompson Warriors since 2018.”

“Our Board of Education, and superintendent, Dr. Wayne Vickers, Head Football Coach Mark Freeman, his coaching staff, our football players, and everyone involved have done a remarkable job getting us to national prominence. Our goal is to remain a fixture on the national stage. I am so proud of their hard work and we look forward to a great year and another great ESPN telecast.” (Vincent Pitts, Director of Athletics)

The home game against Clay Chalkville is scheduled for Thursday September 28th. The kickoff time is set for 7:00pm CST (8:00pm EST).
